Perlan’s blog collects the thoughts and experiences of team members from the multiple disciplines needed to build and prepare the aircraft, plan the flight, and carry out the mission. Here, you’ll find insights from the designers, craftspeople, pilots, meteorologists, and support personnel who will make Perlan’s record ascents a reality. Perlan’s blog will be an opportunity to delve into the challenges and triumphs that travel with the giant sailplane.

Dr. Elizabeth Austin, the lead Meteorologist for the Perlan Project has released a book: Treading On Thin Air: Atmospheric Physics, Forensic Meteorology, and Climate Change: How Weather Shapes Our Everyday Lives. In the book, Dr. Austin has extensive narrative about the Perlan Project.
July 7, 2016 was Perlan 2 loading day. The all up weight of loaded container was about 17,000 pounds or 8,000 kg. (Jim and Greg split the betting pool on all up weight.) The team in photo from the right Jim, Stewart, Greg, Doug, Morgan, and Jackie have put in incredibly long hours for days and weeks.
Loading Day for Perlan 2 glider at Minden! Thanks to awesome preparation and planning by the Mindenites we were ready to pack the trailer into the pre-loaded container.
The Perlan 2 glider will have a nice warm home in El Calafate thanks to the Aero Club Lago Argentino. Freddy Representaciones and German Muller have taken good care of the Perlan Project. The winter sunrise at the airport is 9:30 am. Can't wait to see the Perlan showcased inside the hangar! Perlan Soars! Jackie
In El Calafate, Tago is Perlan Project's chief of logistics. He was interviewed by the radio show "Ahora Calafate." With him were Freddy Vergnolle and German Muller from the local aero club. They will be our hosts at the airport.
